The system that's growing in Dartford unsurprisingly has some nice structure to it. From what I could see

Think I'm a teeny tiny bit too south to get anything if it kicks off.

Absolutely stunning structure here in NW Kent 🤩 this is the same system that produced the funnel cloud earlier

Just saw another extremely brief funnel 🤩 if only my brother had better vistas 😫

The dark area behind it from here almost looks like a wall cloud

There's been areas of convergence through Kent, up into East Anglia.

Just saw a flash out towards Kent and a new strike has appeared. Always seems to find a way to avoid being overhead for me this year

I am the ultimate walking storm shield, its unreal, just back from visiting my mother in Basildon hospital, 10 mins after I leave a storm develops right overhead there, back here in the desert nothing as per, still utterly sod all all year but once again when I've been working in London yep st neots gets it and when wfh vice versa. The utter rage at missing an isolated storm 10 mins after being there. Why me, how me.

It's a bit dark. Radar returns are a bit depressing considering the stormy-looking sky.

Edit: Bit of mammatus too I think.

Dungeness, Kent

Pretty big waterspout at Dungeness

Awesome. At least they didn't refer to it as a "mini" tornado!

Is it just me or is the humidity through the roof? I haven't checked any figures recently but last night I felt extremely hot/sweaty even though it wasn't actually that warm at all.

Also, to the weather gods - Can the south east, in particular Bexley actually get some proper rain/storms please like the rest of the country has enjoyed for a month? Many thanks!

Granted there's not been much activity in South London but I've been really pleased with the cloudscapes this summer

I'm confused net weather has my risk at 15% but bbc has it up to 70% ? Which is right? I know earlier on this thread you where discussing what got you interested in storms and alot said scared as children and wanted to know more, well I was scared as a young child ( due to mum hiding us away) but then at 8yr it's ish it actually hit our house and caused alot of damage.

Did you hear the couple of rumbles of thunder about 25 minutes ago?

Convective Outlook ⚡

Monday

CAPE builds slightly ahead of a decaying southwards moving occluded front. This CAPE especially looks to build along the south coast, perhaps locally in excess of 1,000 J/KG of SBCAPE.

This occurs along a Theta-E plume with lots of moisture and energy. Along with fairly good amounts of SB lift and moderate amounts of shearing as it gets towards late morning and early afternoon. The occluded front moves through, very weak in the early afternoon so hampers most activity beyond mid-day.

A few storms could get beyond 20,000 feet and with the amount of energy avaliable, fairly frequent lightning may occur for a time. However, that assumes a good amount of ECAPE and DLS to reach that height.

These are forced along a small PV lobe, as generally most of these types of slight risk setups are. That generally means widespread showers and a few storms form so cloudcapes could be quite good.

A thin line of heavy showers has broken out just to my south. BBC has me with a 71% chance of thundery showers at 6pm but I'd be shocked if it happened. Certainly looks like a downpour may be imminent though.
