Re a snow rain snow event the models always struggle with these as they underplay the transition from rain to snow and don't take into account the cooling effect of the first lot of snow on the atmosphere particularly the lower segments

It normally translates at he very worst to snow sleet snow or snow snizzle snow

Yep the ECM need to follow on pretty confident of a further shift west though so not too worried about that

C'mon weather gods, give me a classic 80s low pressure attack at just the right angle so that it stalls over the south west and dumps a shed load of the white stuff on us all, surely I'm not asking for too much ;)

Good luck! :p

UKMO is what we want guys. This would give us heavy snow Monday and further snowfall midweek.

Altogether now, BANK the UKMO.

Go UKMO! When's it's next run?

Some stonking runs for snow (away from the south west unfortunately) and the UKMO is a beaut! That would hold on to the cold longer.

GME isn't bad either at T72. Cold uppers over much of the region;

Someone on the MOD thread said the GEM is awful and nowhere near as snowy, so I thought ummm..... I'll have a look.

The GEM stalls the front over the west and keeps the cold upper air over the country, the front doesn't get past the W Country, leaving the bulk of central & Eastern England dry, but providing Western England & Wales with persistent snow on Monday into Tuesday. The GEM is good for us, but it will be described as crap in the MOD thread because its a western event!

Oh okay! Somehow, I don't think I will, after staying up the last couple of nights till around 11 to see the latest runs, only to have to get up at 7 in the morning ready for school!

This is why people need to take what the MOD people say with a pinch of salt. The forum is somewhat governed by them pesky easterners lol

Im confident we are about to have some great weather!

This is why we need the GFS to do another westward shift, or at least eradicate the mild sector associated with the shortwave;

Got a feeling we may see another westwards shift. It seems to happen quite often. Fingers crossed!
