Today's weather is ordinary and typical for the warmest day of June where I live. Yes a lot of hooplah over this in my opinion.. just an opinion.

Spot on mate! Can't understand the drama about what so far in London is a pretty ordinary June day. Its very warm yes but far from exceptional.

Yeah looks it, although I'm away from Wimbledon today in the Midlands where it's warm, bright and very windy. Doesn't feels anything special here yet at least.

I was wondering what was with the high winds as such I didn't notice anything being forecasted unless I missed something

It is only mid-June. France saw its earliest (in a year) 40+C temp yesterday. 33C is rare in June for UK, only exceeded twice before 20th June since 1961. Met Office say that 34C or higher has only been recorded 5 times in june since 1961 (most in 1976 heatwave when June record was set in Soton, 2019, 2017) and this is just a brief surge of heat.

Waiting for everyone to start complaining how 'humid' it is....when humidity in the hot spots across the E/SE are 30-35% at the moment, which is very low for the UK, and low in general!

Heathrow, that doesn’t hold a single U.K. high temperature record and yet we still get the boring comments about it reading too high due to concrete, runways, jet exhausts etc. As if the world’s leading meteorological agency don’t take things into consideration when siting a weather station. Never mind that such nonsense has been debunked by comparisons between that stations readings and obs in the surrounding areas.

Last time I checked, places like Norwich (Which is also at 30c), were not covered in concrete. Plenty of locations in the 30c ballpark and will exceed this in the coming hours.

Its a hot day, but not threatening the June record thanks to a stronger westerly push than was modelled. I don’t see the point in worthless comments like this at all.

Heathrow weather station has been in the same location since the 50s. Massive expansion around it.

30.2c here now. LHR 10 miles from here. Airports always top the list.

29.6c in Winchester! We are a micro climate though. Always 2 degrees hotter than forecast in summer and 2c under in winter.

The U.K. all time temperature record is held by a botanical gardens. Must be all the jet fumes given off by the plants.

In fact, the majority of U.K. high temperature records are held by non-Aiport weather stations.

These claims have been debunked so many times. It’s boring.

Just watching a plane go over Winchester landing at Southampton coming from Edingburgh. Going to be like taking a holiday abroad for them!

Yes it's not that unusual for recent years:

I tend to use readings from RAF Odiham( your neck of the woods) Kenley and LGW to get current conditions in S England.

LHR and St Jame's Park readings are nonsense imo.

Yes, I work from Heathrow and the weather station is by a big area of grass, totally exposed to winds especially from the south and west.
