Looking likely that 32.4C is going to be the max.

Could we not see further heating today?

Actually surprised to see that Shawbury has been reading as high as 29C this afternoon, it actually only feels like about 26-27 even though the sun is out. That unforecast wind is pretty strong ( it's from between W and SW though- so not one of those Cheshire gap breezes which are another obstacle to getting high temps round here) and the humidity must be very low. Had some more hazy gunk this morning but not as thick as the last two days and its blue sky now. A better outcome than I expected tbh (had visions of a total cloud over at a muggy 23C while eastern parts were 35C).

Was warm this morning, up to 23C, but now 16C and grey in Lancaster...

In Exeter most weather stations are reading at least 32C on Weather Underground, and it's also unusual that that east facing coasts around Teignmouth have an offshore westerly wind which has pushed out the sea breeze, and hence and are about 30C. That could be a record for them as hard to get offshore winds there in a heatwave.

Definitely a pocket of heat east/NE of Dartmoor as predicted by the models. Back home about 10 miles east of Exeter it's 26C despite being a few miles inland due to some southerly sea breeze influence, the Met Office had that being pushed out by the developing westerly with it being 31C about now, but that hasn't happened yet.

All those concrete plants giving off jet fumes.

Certainly all that glass will have a localised effect on temperature. Like the asphalt runways and buildings at Heathrow ( look it up) Aircraft movements have no effect on temperature as was demonstrated during lockdown. Look that up too.

What a perfect day! ☀️ 30C and barely a cloud in the sky! Just relaxing at Drayton Manor in the sun. Weather is looking good from Monday again too.

No it won't.

The station isn't situated near it.

Do you have reminders on your phone to let you know that you need to post this annually?

Effects of cooler air to the NW being felt now after briefly touching 30°C earlier, mean winds shifting to the NW and temp down to 26. Been a thoroughly enjoyable day.

According to the BBC, Santon Downham in Suffolk has reached 32.7C.

Must be a mistake though as I wasn't aware there was an airport there.

The A330 that made an emergency landing in a field next to the weather station caused a spike in temps.

Amazing that the world’s leading meteorological agency have never realised this or taken it into consideration but a handful of non meteorologists have.

So, to a tenth of a degree, the glass at Kew Gardens has the exactly same affect as tarmac and jet exhausts at Heathrow. Amazing coincidence. Also an amazing coincidence that the temperatures always tie in with model predictions and line up well with readings from both amateur and official weather stations elsewhere.

I think the only way to stop some people dismissing temperature readings is to place weather stations in an ice box.

Santon Downham now hotter than both Heathrow and Kew Gardens. I wonder what excuse there is to dismiss that one.

I know! A tiny village nestled in Thetford Forest hotter than all those jets. Maybe a plane landed right next to the weather station and boosted it?

33C now in Norwich. Amazing how those 'warmists' got all that magic asphalt down so fast!

Right next to RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall. They probably just picked that random village as they know the games up.

And Norwich has an airport too!!

Lots of farms in Norwich. Probably heat from cow flatulence.

The fuss the media are making over a day of properly hot weather is embarrassing. There wasn't this much fretting the day before Eunice!

Saw Channel 5's main news by chance....first time I have seen it..... Absolutely ridiculous OTT coverage of this, led the news for first 10 minutes of what is more or less a one day wonder and restricted area at that. News anchor was outside doing the news in a park with their own thermometer.

Hahaha you're far too generous. A sunny afternoon in June and it merits a weather warning. Should have been a warning about some of the sights in our local park.

We reached 29.2C here in the end, making it the joint 4th warmest June day in 42 years and warmest since 2011.

Not sure why the news are so keen on this, the minimum temp last night was far more notable in many places but hasn't even been mentioned. We broke our 42 year record by 0.8C.

Pathetic. People from abroad must think hitting 32c is a once in a century event in the UK judging by the media coverage, when it is in fact quite a regular occurrence for the south.

Still pretty hot out there at 30/31c. No hope for the little man’s room temperature on his thermometer getting below the current 29.8c before he gets to bed!

Yep it got warm for a few hours this aft and then clouded over again and the breeze picked up, 28c for a couple of hours on the east coast is hardly news worthy

Very true. 32C is pretty standard and has been for decades so a very typical heatwave, or rather... ‘hot day’

It hasn't even been 'hot' here today - I am on the coast but never felt even a bit uncomfortable.  In my sweatshirt and leggings now.

Well here in back yard with my recording station, it's been a gradual rise in temperatures for about a week now, can't understand why people say it's got hot overnight! Today was the peak at about 30c/86f...
