of course, brain cells would be helpful if I had them!

The trough/convergence zone is quite pronounced both 850 and 700 mb show it. Not looked at hte skew-t for Doncaster but I suspect the predict for 12Z will show possible tops pretty high.

Not that unstable but Lincoln looks more unstable  main tos 10000 or so but could go over 20000 although dry so isol tops only

ref Margate I'll have a look for you

Margate more unstable higher and also moister, tops 18000 isol 22000+ but less so by 18Z, according to the Extra skew-T outputs

I get most weather apps struggle with forecasting thunderstorms, but sometimes they’re so wrong it’s laughable.

It’s really unstable in my area, once the front had moved through it looked done and dusted however we have more building movement from my west unexpectedly so could have more fun and games again pretty soon

Looks like it's all done down here, some nice looking heavy showers, no thunder though.

The first one I saw was very wide and looked strong in core, I would have bet that it was on its way to the ground, it was awesome in structure and I’ve never seen a funnel so large however it did dissipate fairly quickly however the images I posted of the funnel at north kyme could have been part of that same rotation and possibly the rebuild and were to my east The ones I took images of where in the same system but over to the west.

Quite the lively early afternoon here if this came off, following on rain during all of the morning. Matches with the recent UKV runs showing some stuff into Midlands at that same time, right as the centre of the low passes over. Will watch radar if anything pops off. cc @CoventryWeather

If that does happen, we know who to thank

It will happen. Because I predicted it would in the second half of August on a weekend night 😁👍

Convective Outlook ⚡

Storm Antoni will head into the UK bringing heavy showers & t-storms for some. Severe has been issued for 50+mph gusts, especially along Wales, S/SW England and parts of Ireland. Lightning may become frequent at times although a lot of uncertainty.

It’ll miss me knowing my luck. It’s just too far north the slight and the black line is over me

There were a few rumbles from that in Folkestone yesterday afternoon. Very heavy rain too for a short burst. We missed it as had to go to Canterbury (my nan-in-law is gravely ill unfortunately) but my son was home and told me about the thunder.

UKV seems to have moved southwards today with the storm risk, so not overly optimistic here. Seems the best risk seems to be a line from Gloucester to London looking at current satellite and guidance.
