Seems like a long long time since any storms made it here, yesterday looked promising, but again failed to deliver.

What's the outlook for the rest of the week?

I think someone got out of the wrong side of bed today! 😳

Some folk here are weather fans but not necessarily experts at reading charts,  nor perhaps even navigating the forums too well. And just maybe some folk  want to try and engage with fellow enthusiasts. There's no need to be short or snappy with them.

Pretty poor edited video, to have the music abruptly stop just for a few seconds then suddenly start again isn’t very good 😕

I don’t understand what they mean by a ‘mini-tornado’. It’s used all the time by the news and it just makes the event seem less serious than it is, despite the severe damage caused by this tornado in Calais.

My forecast verification from yesterday

Green : General risk

Yellow : Slight risk

Orange : Enhanced risk

Red : Moderate risk

Pink : High risk

It doesnt look great but note that the maps are at a different scale and stretch so look for borders rather than a direct comparison.

I thought I recognized it,I stayed there 4 year's ago in one of the lodges on that hillside. Ironically,I watched a passing storm from the hot tub when I was there. Saw some big CGS over towards the Verwood area so I was able to stay out there the whole time, the veiw across the Avon valley is awesome!

Holbeach in Lincolnshire was the wettest place in the UK yesterday with 33.6mm of rain.

Holbeach seems to be the prime spot...having said that i unofficially recorded 40mm yesterday in my garden with my very technical scientific rain guage 🤣.

What struck me about that storm system yesterday was the speed with which it moved in, its ferocity and the frequent lighting, almost every 5 seconds or less at times. It was stunning and when you think it happened in late October in a year with record heat in July....thats what i love about the weather...the unexpected...

A screen shot from the storm...

shows the pinkness of the flashes .much of the lightning was bright but couldnt see many forks from where i was viewing weo one which ..sods law..the video was off at that moment...anyways an evening to remember...

I'd say that is the Supercell storm that produced the tornado in Bucks.

Oh, I didn't realise there was a tornado in Bucks? Do you happen to have any damage reports etc.

Also, I am currently 50/50 whether it was a supercell. Some of the footage of it round Heathrow area showed some slight rotation. When I was there the storm certainly had some supercellular appearance characteristics but I didn't manage to get enough of a stable shot to note any proper rotation. In the middle of the storm certainly felt very intense, but as I was there I probably have a slight bias for it be the more extreme thing and for me to want it to be my first supercell, so I dont want to rush in calling it one if it is not really. But that being said, would not be surprised if it was found to be a weak supercell. If anyone has any thoughts, footage, anything interesting at all about this I would love to hear!

Apologies the tornado was in Hampshire.

Certainly looks like a Supercell to me.
