Why is BBC 21.55 forecast a repeat of mid afternoon one? This happened yesterday as well.

BBC forecasts not what they used to be are they?!

Metoffice spend so much time sat on the fence, they should have splinters in their backsides 😂😂

Theyre provided by meteogroup now if I recall? The ITV ones provided by the meto aren't much better

Their winter forecasts are great examples of this, later in the month there will be possible mild spells, mixed with cold spells and wet and windy, calm, dry, frosty, and sunny intervals are also possible at times.🙄

Yep, don't bother with them anymore.  Think how great they were back in the 80's and 90's!

I ask myself that, but can't pull myself away from them, I must clarify I find short term less than 24 hrs preety decent, but notice they are prone to change sometimes hourly basis.

I remember someone saying that the forecasts given are based on the previous runs of the models.

They always seem to be 12 hours behind.

Hoping the monthly outlook says this " June 16th to July 15th. Temperatures at least 28c every day. Light winds. No need for thermal socks until at least November. Put the fleece and wooly jumper away. Have an ice cream ! Sorted ! "

Friday 23 Jun - Sunday 2 Jul

The start of this period is likely to see a northwest-southeast split established, with more unsettled conditions towards the northwest bringing some rainfall here, while the southeast is more likely to remain drier overall. Winds are likely to be stronger at times towards the northwest and lighter towards the southeast. Temperatures will be warm or very warm for many, perhaps hot in the southeast. Further into this period, the northwest is likely to continue to see the most unsettled conditions, with rain at times, while the southeast is most likely to see the driest conditions, although the chance of heavy showers or thunderstorms cannot be ruled out here. Temperatures are most likely to remain above, or even well above average.

Monday 3 Jul - Monday 17 Jul

There are no particularly strong signals for anything other than a mix of typical summer conditions over the UK in this period, although temperatures are likely to remain above, or well-above average. This means that overall, the driest, warmest and sunniest conditions will often be in southern parts, whereas further north, it is more likely to be cloudy with occasional rain and stronger winds at times. Any rainfall across southern areas will more likely arise as a result of showers and thunderstorms.

MeteoGroup didn't exist in the 1970s.

Ive noted this thread has no updates on bbc/met office outlooks for a while, well since the fine spell came to an end.

Reading today's met office outlook, woeful is the word for high summer. Grim reading.. may have to wait until 6 Aug for something settled and slightly warmer than average. Oh joy!

Must say @damianslawthe outlook is disappointing although it could be worse, im not too deflated and will have better night sleeps as a result.

Agree I'm not deflated, and things do change. Just commenting on the wording, not to say it will verify.

If it comes to fruition, it will bring a very poor high summer period.

Could we be in for a summer equivalent of winter 2010/11?!

Obviously but after a record breaking June, this summer does seem to be following a more mediocre path now, but there is plenty of it left yet!
