I'm currently downstream of the gap between between the precip. areas. Hoping for some further development to the east of those storms, but currently they're only backbuilding rather than spreading.

Nothing will happen til 1am - even then it might only be marginal

The storms are strengthening slowly but surely ! I think they will be full force at the coast!

They will be on the decline when they reach the coast, the activity will be mostly in the channel

correct mate  , i will watch till about 11:30/12am then bed, reason they will be declining when they reach the coast is because the help it needs is moving away.

Anyone got eyes on the lightning south of Plymouth? Looks lively on radar

I'm sure there will be a little more lightning than the detectors are picking up too, as not all IC is detected. Might be a decent show if you're based Plymouth/Torquay.

The strong vertical wind shear is definitely playing an important role and to some degree makes up for the lack of instability. These cells have been going for over an hour now, typical lifetime for popcorn storms.

Yeah, too far west for me, but I would get down to the coast if I was down that way

Does make me laugh though that some on here are calling this a dud just because it's not looking good the vast majority

Exactly, this day was never expected to be the main show either, that might be Wednesday or another day may come into view.

Definitely more than being picked up, i am listening to the radio, and I'm hearing loads more than are being shown on lightning maps

I'm becoming increasingly more impressed with the model output for tomorrow night too. Wednesday if we can see good model agreement/consistency then it could be a very big day.

Yeah, could be quite the week. I'll probably stay awake for tomorrow into Monday, my parents have already cleared it.

Wait...

I have PE on Wednesday, that'll be interesting.

I'm sat on the clifftop in southbourne, and have just seen a flash way off to my west, my guess would be somewhere west of Weymouth even! Must be very elevated

And again, anyone over near west dorset who can see the same?
