Chance of snow in Colchester this week?

Think we will see some falling snow at least!

We've got a few days before we will know the outcome . Blizzards lasting for days rarely comes off but just occasionally if everything falls right then they can. The reason we all remember the past events with clarity is because they don't happen that often. That's why we love it!

Not all Scandi highs deliver and are dependent on how cold the airmass on the underbelly and the wind flow direction.

This chart looks great and occurring during a notable winter of recent times but it was a pretty poor effort.

Yes that was a perfect example of the preceding northerly being colder than the following easterly. It was the first day there was a bit of drip drip of the snow cover that fell on the 05th/06th here.

Yep

All that time, effort and agonising for a cm or 2 of transient slushy snow when previous talk was of a record-breaking cold March, a possible 20cm of snow in central/southern England and a 2-week severe spell, etc, etc. I know things have been bad since 2013 (with one or two exceptions) but I didn't think things were that desperate that this week is worth all the excitement

It seems that they have been talking about a feast of snow and cold, a 5-course banquet, on the MAD thread for weeks and it's now turned into looking forward to a happy meal

Typically, although the overall outlook is pretty 'meh' cold-wise, a day that I could really do without it snowing (the 10th) actually looks as though it could deliver something that is temporarily disruptive where I'm travelling to that day

I'll be throwing my toy out the happy meal box later ...

Was about to moan about tomorrow's snow chances being v. low in the south but the Met Office seem keen on it being more white than wet tomorrow..

And for what it's worth, it's currently sleeting/snowing in subtropical London, so, anything can happen from now on!?

The mad thread is on a major roller coaster at present.....there are a lot as you would expect nimby's galore! The ppn is moving further north then south and north again 🤣 the excitement is too much 😁 I'm going with the balanced met office on this one!

I don't have access I'm afraid, best case scenario for the south east is probably 3-5cm widely by Thursday morning based on 06z ecm if it holds as snow, but that's a big  if.

Snowline for Thursday...Leeds Northwards ?

They've used ukv which is now a total outlier with regards to Wednesday evolution.

Most models have more significant for south in AM. Ukv has the band too south with the core in the channel, now all models put that core over the south instead.

someone posted MetOffice screen grabs on the Mad thread showing mostly rain in the south tomorrow - no wonder people are confused. I'll stick with my own prediction of bit of snow/sleet and rain - think that covers it
