As long as Newhey, Lancashire gets rain I'll be very happy!

It’s Greater Manchester, on the foothills of the Pennines. He could do very well out of this cold spell.

How difficult does it seem to be able to advect cold weather into the UK these days? I’m sure it’s getting harder every winter and I can only put it down to climate change and increased sea temperatures. Within 10 years I can see us all drooling over charts that might produce a sleet shower over the top of Ben Nevis. All very disheartening

people already drool over charts like that on this site👀

It's freezing out there, and that breeze makes it a lot more horrific 🥶

Windchill of -4 all day today, yet some blokes walk around wearing shorts.

Must be the latest fashion trend, I see lads here wearing shorts no matter how freezing cold, wet and windy it is.

I sometimes miss the old 'farming' weather which used to be on TV every Sunday at midday in the late 70s - 80s. We never had this aggro back then 😂

If that was now and it said it was going to be cold all week with snow at times...happy days for everyone. Nowadays we look for the end before it's begun and micro analyse it all, shame really hey mate 👍

It's a model mate and this is the model thread. Sorry if that offends

Is anyone else exhausted from the build up to this. It seems to be ongoing since Christmas!! In my time on here I don't ever remember such a drawn out event, and yet still the goods or day 7 and further!! We must be averaging 3/4 pages an hour now for about 19days and nought to show for it 😆

I'll give it an extra day and if the wishy washy charts and chopping charging are still there am packing it in. Sorry guys but the rollercoaster is designed as a short journey for a reason. This place is gone like the titanic and that Greeny high is sinking!! Let's see where the 18z goes, now rolling 😃

Praying it doesn't get pushed into March and April yet again.

Offend?  No, not at all mate, sorry.. I think you missed my point, i wasnt questioning you at all. Sometimes I  think we were far less stressed before we had access to so much info. (Goes for Life in general too i guess) Maybe before your time and I am getting past it 😂 👍

BBC next week for the big event

always 2/3 degrees higher than  other forecasts

I'd be more worried if it was forecasting heavy snow that far out - usually ends badly.  The bar is set low now so expect the worse and hope for better - you never know in this volatile set up

As with last Wednesday and the Wednesday before that and the Wednesday before that and the Wednesday before that ...

The ''all important 12z runs are needed'' 😂

got a little bit more snow than forecast yesterday and overnight 25cm in my location..temps on the decline further today as it continues to fall through the day from -21c now to -25c by hometime and then -40c over the weekend..a few -45c have popped up in the forecast for rural locations outside the city.

Stay in the cold... first time I've seen someone accept that it's already cold and not "when the cold arrives". It's already here! 😂

Looking like a very short lived or even non existent cold snap for the south now.

Looks like the low is heading into Kenya

This could be the longest chase on record for a flake off snow.

However more runs needed

Too much energy floating around - craving a good solid Scandi High with no question of it budging, unlike gambling with a Greenland High - how many times have we seen prospects crumble when Greenland high's are involved??! Shortwaves, diversions, the high failing completely leaving Cold marching into Canada and leaving us with a blow torch jet? It has happened countless times.... and if it crumbles this time its back to square 1 with all the PV back over America and a mild, wet and soggy spell that could last weeks.

Still some remaining swings I suspect though keeping the cold hopes alive .... but people would be wise not to get too excited

I’ve been on this forum for 14years pretty much, and from November on the same chat pretty much gets repeated. Nearly always folk say ‘much better signals for a cold spell next month’ …. Every year! We do usually get snow, just not when it’s forecast. 😆
